The time is spent on careful visual observation, which is done in the right part of the brain where intuitive and creative thinking transpires. Some art students reach a crest in their artistic development (i.e. art classes) rendering imitation (copy work) and it may be hard to overcome the instinct to further their concept development and imagination enhancement. I work with the private students to generate their own ideas and experiences combined with technique and artistic approach.
